George Kittle stopped by to chat with Mackenzie Salmon about another year of Tight End University and other burning topics from the sports world.
San Francisco 49ers player and former Hawkeye football tight end George Kittle recalled leaving a surprise inside Brock Purdy’s locker in a new interview.
Kittle appeared on a July 10 episode of “The Rich Eisen Show,” where he chatted about Purdy’s physique — mainly, the size of his large quads — and an early interaction with the quarterback.
Prompted by Eisen for a story about Purdy, the 49ers star explained that he likes to banter with rookies and see if they’ll dish it back or feel shy because of Kittle’s seniority.
So, how did Kittle banter with Purdy?
He hung an Iowa football shirt in Purdy’s locker.
The former Iowa State football star questioned if Kittle put the shirt there and told him to get it out of his locker.
“I’m going to like you, I absolutely know that already,” Kittle said about Purdy’s response, adding that Purdy tossed the shirt on the ground.
“I just like guys who can appreciate a good banter and just don’t be nervous,” Kittle told Eisen. “We’re all on the same team here. We’re all striving to achieve the same things here so I’m not intimidating, I promise. I’m pretty nice.”

Where is George Kittle from?
Kittle was born in Madison, Wisconsin on a football Saturday, according to Register archives, and attended Iowa City West, Cedar Falls and Norman High School in Oklahoma. His father, Bruce Kittle, was an offensive lineman for the Hawkeyes.
