Cricket Australia has excitedly revealed the schedule for Season 14 of the Big Bash League (BBL), ensuring a spectacle with every game. The season boasts 44 matches, featuring cricket every evening and includes six double-headers.
The opening match of BBL 14 is set for Sunday, December 15, at Optus Stadium, where Perth Scorchers will compete against Melbourne Stars, following the second day of the Brisbane Test.
The season aligns 14 BBL games with the Men’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series, offering the chance for Australian Test players to join post-series, with an extended window for their involvement starting January 7.
The regular season offers non-stop cricket from December 15 to January 19, with a break only for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, promising fans a steady stream of Big Bash excitement. The finals kick off on January 21, culminating in the Grand Final on January 27, coinciding with a national holiday.
Anticipation is high for the Melbourne Derbies, with the Renegades and Stars clashing on January 4 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and again on January 12 at Marvel Stadium. In a twist, four clubs will play at non-traditional venues, diversifying the season’s lineup.
Alistair Dobson, General Manager of Big Bash Leagues for Cricket Australia, expressed:
“The League is thrilled to present a lineup of 44 blockbuster encounters for BBL 14.
“Fans are in for a treat with non-stop action each night during the regular season, including all the high-profile matches they adore. We’re also eager to see the return of the Australian Test squad members in January, post the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series.
“Last season’s move to a more streamlined competition, coupled with the signing of top-tier players, resulted in phenomenal fan turnouts and memorable off-field moments, as well as outstanding cricket. We’re looking forward to an even bigger BBL 14.”
