Resigning as a senior working member of the British royal family has not only allowed Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex to pursue her own interests – it’s allowed her personal style to shine once again.
During her time in the monarchy, the former Suits star was expected to follow a certain sartorial look, one considerably more conservative than her own (hats, fascinators and pantyhose, anyone?).
For one thing, in the Harry & Meghan docuseries, the duchess admitted that she “rarely wore colour” as a royal.
“There was thought in that. To my understanding, you can’t ever wear the same color as Her Majesty [Queen Elizabeth II] if there’s a group event,” she explained.
“But then you also should never be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family.
“So I was like, ‘Well, what’s a colour that they’ll probably never wear? Camel? Beige? White?'”
Since stepping down from her royal duties in January 2020, Meghan has gradually returned to her pre-royal style – bright colours included – and really come into her own.
