If you want to create amazing video content from your travels with a minimum of faffing around, DJI’s Osmo Pocket 3 may just be the camera for you.

The tiny camera is the choice for many vloggers and content creators, who love it for its compact size, built-in three-axis gimbal, and ease of use.

The whole package fits, as the name suggests, in your pocket and because it only weighs only 179g it is great for capturing videos on the run.

The Osmo Pocket 3 is basically a handle with a gimbal-mounted camera on top. The handle has a rotating 2-inch LCD touchscreen, a joystick and record button, so all the controls are at your fingertips.

Because of the gimbal-mounted camera and handle, the Osmo Pocket 3 is much better at producing stable and professional-looking videos than even your best smartphone — and it is much cheaper and lighter compared with a gimbal-mounted camera.

The camera’s three-axis gimbal and the autofocus system’s face detect and auto tracking modes combine to produce smooth, professional-looking videos with a minimum of faffing around.

The Osmo Pocket 3 has a 1-inch CMOS sensor and a 20mm f/2.0 lens that can shoot share-ready videos up to 4K/60fp.

The rotating touch screen makes it easy to switch orientation from portrait to landscape and provides quick access to the camera controls, including clever shooting modes like Glamour Effects, ActiveTrack, SpinShot, Motionlapse and Panorama to help create professional-looking effects.

The built-in microphone array provides omnidirectional stereo recording and it can connect wirelessly to two transmitters, making it capable of clearly capturing audio for travel footage, interviews or live streams.

DJI says the Osmo Pocket 3 has a 166-minute battery life when shooting at 1080p/24fps — but if you do run short it can be charged to 80 per cent in just 16 minutes.

The DJI Mimo app allows users to shoot, edit and share from their smartphone.

The Osmo Pocket 3 starts from $849 but to get the most out of it you’ll want the Creator Combo, which includes the camera, a protective case, an extra battery handle, a microphone transmitter, a clip-on wide-angle lens, a mini tripod that mounts to the bottom of the handle, and a carrying bag that can hold it all. That will set you back $1129.
