A 45-year-old man who vanished while enjoying a day on the water on his recreational boat has been found dead.
The Clagiraba man’s family say they lost sight of him at The Spit at Somerset Dam, north-west of Brisbane, this morning with police spending the afternoon looking for any sign of him or his vessel.
Jet skiers who had gathered for a race went to try and help, including Bailey Cunningham.
By the time he got to the area, he was powerless to help.
“You couldn’t see nothing, that’s the worst part, you couldn’t see anything,” he said.
Police divers arrived this afternoon on a recovery mission and the man’s body was found about 4pm.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
