Pakenham racing tips

Race 1. (12:00) Tassie Fine Foods Maiden (1000m)

#1 – Blue Stratum @ $2.60

Blue Stratum will love the easier company after running second on debut at Flemington before running at Randwick and Caulfield.

The two-year-old colt by Blue Point has experience at stakes level, and that can’t be overlooked in this field, so we’re surprised by the odds.

He only needs luck to put this field away with ease.

Race 4. (13:30) Pakenham Mazda July Deals Maiden (1200m)

#7 – Melidesh @ $3.30

Money is with Melidesh, who ran third on debut when he was with the Ciaron Maher stable.

The three-year-old colt by I Am Invincible is now with Team Hayes, and he could come back from a spell in fine order.

Barrier four is ideal and he’ll get every chance in the run.

Race 6. (14:30) Stables Plus BM58 (1400m)

#3 – Asawin @ $2.90

Asawin owns a win and three placings from seven starts, including consecutive third placings this preparation.

The three-year-old son of Churchill ran third at Geelong and Bendigo, so the form is there, and it won’t take him long to win.

Barrier 13 is awkward, but he’s too good to leave out.

Race 7. (15:00) Jockey Watch BM58 (1400m)

#8 – Boys Night Out @ $3.40

Looking for consecutive wins is Boys Night Out, who finished too strongly for the opposition at Ballarat.

The three-year-old gelding by No Nay Never also has four placings from seven starts, and getting the inside draw adds to his appeal.

Punters get generous enough odds to include him in selections.

Dubbo racing tips

Race 1. (12:25) Maas Mile Maiden (1620m)

#6 – Hot Gospel @ $2.45

Hot Gospel comes off consecutive placings at Dubbo and Gunnedah, which should be a good form guide for this race.

The maiden win isn’t too far away for the favourite, who owns three placings from four starts over the distance.

Take the odds before money comes for her late.

Race 3. (13:40) Inland Petroleum Maiden (1320m)

#5 – Full Commitment @ $4.20

Full Commitment is getting close after posting three placings from five starts, and the odds are generous.

The three-year-old filly by Harry Angel was only a half-length behind the winner at Gunnedah, and dropping to 54kg is ideal.

With luck from the wide draw, she should be tough to hold out.

Race 5. (14:55) Western Star Hotel Maiden (1020m)

#3 – Great Southernland @ $2.60

Great Southernland owns five placings from 12 starts, including a fresh up placing at Tamworth.

The four-year-old son of Fastnet Rock is better on good tracks, but he should handle the soft track and conditions could improve.

It’s not a tough field, so look for him to take advantage.

Race 7. (16:10) Tooheys New BM58 (1120m)

#3 – Giving Delight @ $3.90

Giving Delight is a two-time winner from nine starts, and both wins came at Dubbo.

The four-year-old gelding by Super One hasn’t been too far away this preparation, including a fourth last time out.

We’re happy to include him in picks at the odds.
