Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found in a car park on Sydney’s northern beaches, with neighbours telling police they saw someone being carried from a unit block before the grim discovery.
Officers were called to Ilikai Place in Dee Why about 7am on Monday after a member of the public discovered the body of the 40-year-old in the dead-end street that runs behind Dee Why Lagoon.
A crime scene was established and detectives were spotted at the red-brick unit block, gathering clues throughout the morning.
A 41-year-old man was taken away by police at the same unit block about 12.30pm, but has not been charged with any crime.
Acting Commander Traci Watt said the man was not under arrest and was simply “assisting” the investigation.
“It’s still being treated as suspicious at this point in time,” Watt told reporters.
“We’ll be waiting on the results of the autopsy to understand how this gentleman died.”
Police say the body had no visible signs of injury and the post-mortem investigation would help them understand if a fatal overdose or other medical issue claimed the man’s life.
