Riot Games has released the patch notes for League of Legends patch 14.14 and there’s a lot being added to the game with a new champion, summer event and game mode all arriving in the coming days.
For most LoL players the big addition is new champion Aurora, a bunny vastaya who can channel the spirit world with her abilities. She’s expected to be a solo laner and, on paper at least, she looks incredibly fun. She seems to have a high damage output while also having some solid movement abilities so she can disengage should she overextend in a fight. Aurora will be available from 19:00 UTC on July 17.
The other big addition in the 14.14 patch notes is the new Anima Squad summer event that brings some cool new skins and the hotly anticipated Vampire Survivors style Swarm game mode. The event will run from July 17 to August 19, giving you plenty of time to try out the mode and master all its secrets. There are multiple champions to try, bosses to fight and more than a few secrets to discover.
Interestingly, Riot Games is also extending the Hall of Legends event for another patch, giving players some more time to celebrate Faker’s induction to the hall of fame and max out the event pass. It will now end on July 29, but a lot of fans are still annoyed by the $500 skin that came with the event.
In the actual patch notes there’s more than a few champion balance changes, so you’ll want to read the full notes to learn everything. But some quick ones to note are Smolder getting a significant damage buff and Milio getting a lot of changes to tweak his power spikes throughout the game.
But the most impactful change for almost every level of play is a significant nerf to Tristana, who has been a menace in the mid lane in recent patches. At all levels, including pro play, she has proven to be an effective mid as she can burst down waves and enemies pretty easily. Now her mana pool and costs have been reworked so she shouldn’t be able to spam as much as she had, and this will hopefully move her away from the mid lane a little more.
There’s also a much bigger than normal list of bug fixes, which is always appreciated, and of course the addition of a load of new skins for the event.
