Toby Conway will undergo surgery to heal a stress fracture in his navicular bone sidelining him for the remainder of the season.

The young ruck is expected to be available to return to training in time to complete a full pre-season for 2025.

“Toby’s situation is unfortunate, he has displayed promising development this year in both the AFL and VFL,” Assistant General Manager of Football Brett Johnson said.

“Our approach will be conservative, allowing sufficient time for his foot to heal properly. We anticipate Toby will make a strong return in 2025.”

Tanner Bruhn will be a test to take on Western Bulldogs in this Saturday’s Retro Game as he makes his way back from a scaphoid fracture, while Shannon Neale will be available for selection after following a knock to the throat in the match against Collingwood.

“Tanner has been making good progress throughout his rehab. We will continue to assess him ahead of team selection on Thursday,” Johnson said

“Shannon was assessed after Friday night’s game and was cleared of any damage.”

Following further assessment of Cameron Guthrie’s achilles tendon, the Club expects him to be available to return in three weeks’ time.

“We have continued to monitor Cam’s recovery from the achilles flare-up, and all going well he will continue to build up his training loads, and we expect to see him back available for selection in a few weeks’ time,” Johnson said.

The Club is continuing to work through a timeline for Mitch Edwards’ return from a back complaint.

“We’re still assessing and monitoring the situation with Mitch and should have more information in the coming week with regards to his return-to-play timelines,” Johnson said.

Geelong takes on Western Bulldogs this Saturday at GMHBA Stadium for the Cats’ annual Retro Game.

Tickets for the clash are available through Ticketmaster.
