Where do Rams ‘triplets’ rank across the entire NFL?

Must read

NFL analysts appear to be mixed regarding how far the Los Angeles Rams will truly go in 2024. The defense has been seen as the team’s weakness following Aaron Donald’s retirement in March. However, many around the league anticipate the offense will be LA’s strength this season.

NFL writers at CBS Sports set out to rank offensive “triplets” (top QB-RB-WR/TE trios) around the sport. After placing 17th in the rankings a year ago, the Rams’ triplets consisting of Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams jumped up to 6th in the “Just Shy of Elite” category:

“What a rise for L.A. after a wildly disappointing 2022 season. The dual breakout of Williams and Nacua was one of the best stories of 2023, and they, along with Cooper Kupp returning healthy from the injury that limited him last offseason and Stafford being able to stay upright behind a much-improved offensive line, led to an L.A. resurgence. I’ll admit to being surprised about that No. 2 vote, but they deserve to be in this group of teams,” via Jared Dubin from CBS Sports.

LA’s triplets were ranked as high as 2nd and as low as 15th. Only the Chiefs, Ravens, Eagles, 49ers and Bengals placed higher in the rankings. What a difference a year makes considering Cam Akers was included as one of the triplets and viewed as a boom or bust candidate while Cooper Kupp was still seen as Stafford’s top target.

Instead, Williams and Nacua emerged and put together stellar All-Pro campaigns in the process. The Rams are in a much better place entering ‘24 as the fanbase knows what to expect. That was not the case last season until the offense exploded after the bye. Analysts around the NFL know what LA is made of now which is why the unit should be “awesome,” at least according to ESPN personality Dan Orlovsky.

Add on the fact that Cooper Kupp should be healthier this year and the Rams could have a “Fearsome Foursome” on offense. If that happens, no opposing defensive coordinator will be getting a wink of sleep the week their team faces off against LA.
