A Sydney couple has revealed their big plans after winning a $40 million Oz Lotto prize.
The couple, from the Hills District, held the only division one winning entry in Tuesday’s draw, delivering them the entire jackpot.
‘You’re joking, Oh my god,’ the woman screamed when an official from The Lott called immediately after the draw to confirm the prize.
‘I was just nodding off, falling asleep when you rang. I generally play Powerball, but I thought I’d give Oz Lotto a chance.
‘In our dreams we’ve thought about what we’d do with a big win, but you never think it’s going to come true. It’s unreal.’
When asked about their plans for the money, the husband shared he’d still wake up and go to work despite becoming a multi-millionaire.
‘This is going to give us some time. It buys us time to be able to do the things we want to do. And help the people in your life that have helped you and you want to help them back,’ he said.
‘I always say that I’ve already won the lottery because I live in Australia, I’m healthy and I met my beautiful wife.’
The couple’s winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at Kenthurst Cellars.
So far this year, 12 division one winning entries in the Western and Blue Mountains region have collectively taken home more than $82.45 million in prize money.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1587 on Tuesday were 18, 1, 42, 33, 15, 36 and 10, while the supplementary numbers were 9, 12 and 27.
