The Southern Queens Park Association (SQPA) is set to host a Wellness Fair and Basketball Tournament on Saturday, June 1, at the Roy Wilkins Recreation Center in Jamaica. The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is free and open to the public.
Located at 177-01 Baisley Blvd., the center will provide a backdrop for a day filled with health-focused activities suitable for all ages. Attendees can look forward to a variety of free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and vision tests. The event will also offer educational resources on health and wellness.
The day’s activities included a basketball tournament featuring a championship game for players over 50, alongside appearances by special guests. SQPA, which has served the Queens community for over 45 years, emphasizes this event as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing residents’ quality of life through cultural, social, recreational and educational programs.
The organization also manages Roy Wilkins Park, utilizing this space to further its mission in serving the local community. Families with children of all ages are encouraged to join the festivities, which aim to provide both fun and fundamental health information to the participants.
