Must read

Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital are launching another tripartite collaboration, this time with Elekta. The aim is to join forces in the field of cancer with a focus on radiation therapy and precision medicine.

The parties have worked together for more than half a century in the discovery and treatment of cancer and brain diseases. Now, the collaboration will be strengthened to accelerate research and innovation in radiotherapy as an integral part of precision medicine. The partnership will also cover precision diagnostics and advanced treatments, and disease management throughout the patient care chain.

“We see great potential in developing the role of radiation therapy in precision medicine together with Elekta and Karolinska University Hospital. Deepening the collaboration with Elekta is fully in line with our ambition to strengthen the life science sector in the Stockholm region and nationally,” says Anna Martling, Scientific Director Life Science at Karolinska Institutet.

“Close collaboration between healthcare, academia and industry is necessary for the continued development of diagnostics and treatment,” she says.

Opportunities that are also being discussed include joint research and innovation projects, training activities and exchanges of experience between the parties.
