Where Chicago Bears landed in rankings of most likely NFL dynasties | Sporting News

Must read

In what is a sign of the leaps and bounds the Chicago Bears have made in recent years, the franchise has actually made a list of eight teams that could be the next dynasty in the NFL.

The rankings were done by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, and he has the Bears at No. 8 on the list.

Ahead of Chicago from No. 1 to No. 7 are the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

Here’s some what Knox wrote about the Bears:

However, the Bears are more than just a promising young quarterback and a surplus of cap space. With a solid-and-improving offensive line and skill players like Moore, Keenan Allen, Cole Kmet, D’Andre Swift and Rome Odunze, Chicago is poised to give Williams a stellar supporting cast.

The Bears defense also showed improvement down the stretch last season, holding opponents to 20 or fewer points in each of the final six games. The only real question lies with head coach Matt Eberflus, who has delivered just 10 wins in his two seasons and has no prior head-coaching experience.

Still, Chicago should have a fairly complete team by the end of the 2024 season, it has the means to further improve in 2025, and it could be where the Chiefs currently are before the end of Williams’ rookie contract.

Dynasty talk is always premature, as winning one Super Bowl is very difficult, let alone multiple. But we can say that the Bears are on a great trajectory and should, at the very least, be competitive in 2024 and in the years to come.

Not only do they have a promising young quarterback in Caleb Williams on a rookie deal, they have also surrounded him with a slew of weapons to throw to. Adding to that, Chicago’s defense is ascending and should be one of the better units in the entire league.

Looking ahead, the Bears have a young roster and general manager Ryan Poles is set to be loaded with cap space, with Chicago estimated to have $61.3 million to work with in 2025 to shore up any remaining holes.

If Williams can develop into the elite quarterback he’s expected to be and can get the support necessary from those around him and the defense, the Bears have a great shot to have sustained success and, in turn, could rip off a dynasty.
