Where Detroit Lions land in rankings of most likely NFL dynasties | Sporting News

Must read

After a 12-5 campaign that saw them win the NFC North and go all the way to the NFC Championship Game, the Detroit Lions have big expectations going into the 2024 NFL campaign, and not just from fans and analysts, but from themselves, also.

Detroit’s roster is loaded with talent, and that talent is young enough for the Lions to have sustained success. General manager Brad Holmes will put the franchise in even better position for that if he continues to draft as well as he has.

The Lions have improved so much in recent years that they’ve actually made a list of teams most likely to rip off a dynasty — my, how far we’ve come.

According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, not only did the Lions make the cut, they landed at No. 2 on the list behind only the San Francisco 49ers, the team responsible for ending Detroit’s playoff run last season.

First things first, the Lions actually have to get to and win a Super Bowl before we can even think about a dynasty. That is always far easier said than done, although Detroit is very well positioned to finally get over the hump in 2024, and their Super Bowl window is wide open.

Recently, head coach Dan Campbell was asked about this season being Super Bowl or bust, and as you’d expect, he had a fantastic answer.

“I don’t see bust,” Campbell said. “I see Super Bowl. I don’t know what bust is.”

The truth is, with the kind of struggles this franchise has seen in its existence, one Super Bowl would be enough to last fans a lifetime. But the Lions have the youth, talent and leadership to accomplish even greater things than that.
