CARLSBAD, Calif. – The 2023-24 season officially came to an end on Monday for No. 15 Arizona Men’s Golf in the fourth round of the NCAA Championships. The Wildcats were unable to climb up the leaderboards to reach match play, ending their weekend in 15th place at 41-over par.

“It’s always tough to see your season end before you want it to, but I am proud of this team and all it accomplished this year,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “We were one of the last programs still playing in the postseason because our guys competed and battled until the very last shot. While winning a national championship is always this program’s ultimate goal, we achieved a lot of success this season as a team and individually throughout the roster. The future of Arizona Men’s Golf is bright, and I know this team represented the University of Arizona with pride.”

Sophomore Filip Jakubcik carded Arizona’s lowest round for a second consecutive day on Monday with a 4-over round of 77. Jakubcik went on to be the Wildcats’ top finisher on the leaderboards, ending his weekend tied for 30th at 6-over.

With a 15th place showing, the Wildcats also posted their best finish at the NCAA Championships since placing 13th in 2006. It was the culmination of a season that saw Arizona win three events and pick up three individual victories as well. Tiger Christensen picked up two of the three individual championships that included setting a program record with a 19-under par score in his win at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in the fall.

Arizona had four golfers receive all-conference honors from the Pac-12 in 2023-24 with Christensen, Jakubcik and Zach Pollo all earning selections to the All-Conference Second Team. Tianyi Xiong was also named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
