Meghan’s ‘naked’ stunt slammed by Nigerian First Lady

Must read

Nigeria’s First Lady has taken a veiled swipe at Meghan Markle’s influence on young Nigerians weeks after the Sussexes’ visit to the West African nation.

Writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue has questioned why the Sussexes are considering going to various African nations.

“The country that we hear are trying to court them is Ghana, but Ghana doesn’t send veterans to the Invictus Games,” she told Sky News Australia host James Macpherson.

“So what would be the excuse of having Harry and Meghan there – Is Meghan going to say that she’s now 50 per cent Ghanian?”

The mock royal tour appeared to go off without a hitch, but the King was reportedly furious about the visit and is worried Harry and Meghan are attempting to destablise the Commonwealth and set up a rival royal court.

The Duchess also appears to have failed to make much of an impression on Nigerian First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

Speaking at an event in the capital Abuja, the wife of President Bola Tinubu urged the country’s young women not “try to emulate film stars from America”.

“We have to salvage our children. We see the way they dress. We are not having the Met Gala,” former Senator Oluremi Tinubu said, according to The Sun newspaper.

“And everyone, the nakedness, is just everywhere and the men are well-clothed. So we have to do something.

“Tell them we don’t accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It’s not beautiful at all.”

The remarks came after the former Suits actress turned Duchess’ trip to the country, in which the former working royals met with many of the nation’s top diplomats and leaders.

Meghan, 42, noticeably wore a number of sleeveless dresses during the visit, likely to keep cool in a country where temperatures hover around 30 degrees each day.

Meanwhile, Harry, 39, was “well-clothed” in three-piece linen suits throughout the visit.

The dig from Tinubu also come days after it was reported that Harry and Meghan could be set to return to Africa for another unofficial royal tour.

According to a Sussex insider, Harry and Meghan are currently being wooed by top officials to travel to Accra, the capital of Ghana for a similar unofficial visit.

The port city on the Gulf of Guinea was a favourite destination of Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and Ghanian leaders are reportedly going to “pull out all the stops” to convince the Sussexes to make the trip.

“There is already a lot of talk and excitement in Ghana, everyone is so keen for Harry and Meghan to come and experience the great culture and warmth,” an insider told The Mirror newspaper.
