An international buyer has flown in to inspect a Toorak mansion set to break Victoria’s home price record.
The six-bedroom manor at 2 Macquarie Rd is listed with a $75m-$82.5m price tag, and has the potential to crack the state’s residential benchmark set by cryptocurrency casino boss Ed Craven who purchased a St Georges Rd ‘ghost mansion’ for $80,000,088 in 2022.

Forbes Global Properties listing agent Robert Fletcher said there had been a mix of local and international interest, with one prospective buyer even flying into the country to walk through the compound.
However, he declined to say which country they had departed from.
Property records reveal the stately home is owned by Sue Lord, whose husband is John Lord, chairman of the automation platform Neota.
As visitors enter the impressive abode, a sweeping marble staircase is the focal point.
The dedicated basement cinema and temperature-controlled wine cellar and tasting room are also luxurious features of the home, spanning around 2000sq m under its ceiling.
Prominent landscape designer Paul Bangay designed the grounds of the property, with the addition of a hotel-style pool and spa at the rear of the house as well as a tennis court.
The residence in Melbourne’s most prestigious suburb took five years to build and was completed in 2018, designed architect Illario Cortese and constructed by Bespoke Builders.
Morrell and Koren buyer’s agent Matthew Cleverdon said there had been a recent surge in on and off-market sales in excess of $15m in the past few weeks.
“There seems to be a little more activity and confidence in the top end of the market,” Mr Cleverdon said.
“There’s been a bit of a scurry before things go quiet over the winter school holiday hiatus.”
One of the most recent luxury residential sales in the area was the five-bedroom house at 17 Balmerino Ave which sold for $20m at the end of 2023.
While the price is undisclosed, CoreLogic records showed the five-bedroom mansion at 2 Hopetoun Rd, Toorak is understood to have sold for around $21m on 21 May.
