Eagle Farm racing tips

Race 1. (11:43) The Star BM85 (1600m)

#5 – Poison Chalice @ $3.20

Poison Chalice owns four wins from nine starts, and he wasn’t far away when fourth fresh up at Flemington.

The four-year-old son of Savabeel needs a touch of luck from barrier 13, he has time to find cover from out wide.

His odds are likely to shorten throughout the week.

Race 2. (12:18) HKJC BM78 (1400m)

#17 – Sha of Gomer @ $11.00

Sha of Gomer owns three wins and eight placings from 18 starts, and his best form comes at Eagle Farm.

The four-year-old son of Shalaa owns two wins and two placings at Eagle Farm, and he’s yet to miss a placing over the distance.

Punters get value each-way odds to enjoy.

Race 3. (12:53) Living Turf Premier’s Cup (2400m)

#6 – Hezashocka @ $3.60

Hezashocka won well at Newcastle two back before running 2.8 lengths behind the winner in the Doomben Cup.

Having form at Group 1 level makes him tough to beat, and getting barrier three with Jamie Kah riding helps.

This is his race to win, so the odds could shorten.

Race 4. (13:28) Sky Racing Lord Mayor’s Cup (1800m)

#15 – Shock ‘Em Ova @ $3.40

Shock ‘Em Ova has made a terrific start to his career with five wins and four placings from 10 starts.

The five-year-old gelding by Shocking won at Caulfield last time out, and after opening at $4.00, money has come for him.

Craig Williams has been riding well, so he’s worth backing.

Race 5. (14:03) Aquis Stallions Sires’ Produce (1400m)

#1 – Broadsiding @ $3.40

The odds for Broadsiding are generous because of the extremely wide draw, but we’re hoping he gets some luck.

He comes off two wins at Randwick, including beating a quality field last time out, which is the best form for this race.

The Champagne Stakes winner is the testing material.

Race 6. (14:38) Mullins Lawyers Fred Best Classic (1400m)

#7 – Schwarz @ $6.00

Schwarz got back to his best form at Hawkesbury, and he has more talent than most at this level.

The John O’Shea-trained three-year-old won by 1.8 lengths, and he has since been primed with a trial win at Rosehill.

It’s another good ride for Kah, who could have a big day.

Race 9. (16:28) Magic Millions Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m)

#2 – Comrade Rosa @ $6.00

Comrade Rosa is a seven-time winner from 23 starts, and four of those wins have come at Eagle Farm.

The track specialist also loves running over this distance, and we think she’s being disrespected in betting markets.

Barrier three is ideal, and having Ryan Maloney in the saddle adds to her appeal.
