Aussie bloke makes a $150k mistake while on a camping trip

An Aussie bloke’s ute became fully submerged in water after he forgot to engage the handbreak while on a camping trip.

The new Chevrolet Silverado, worth about $150,000, rolled into Yarrilwanna Creek in Toobeah, on the Queensland and New South Wales border, around 10am on Wednesday morning.

Two RACQ crew members were called to the creek and found the car almost completely underwater after the owner forgot to engage that handbrake. 

Local Robbie Hanna told the Courier Mail: ‘Some fella went down there, parked next to the creek and didn’t put his handbrake on. Before you know it, the car rolled into the creek.

‘This is a good reminder of the safety aspects of recreational fishing – always put your vehicle in park.’ 

Locals said the mud in the ute made it challenging to retrieve. 

The area is known as one of Toobeah’s top fishing spots, renowned for its frequent large catches of yellow belly fish.
