Archinect has received photos of the new Populous-designed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island, New York, as it prepares to host games of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup cricket tournament next month.
The modular, 34,000-seat stadium was built with reused portions of the grandstands made for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix last November, adding its Australian dropped-in pitch after being cultivated in Florida to complete the design along with media suites and 80,000 square feet of hospitality areas. Work began in January.
The stadium will now play host to nine events over the next two weeks, beginning with the Sri Lanka vs South Africa matchup on June 3rd.
