Tennis champion Ash Barty’s coach Craig Tyzzer is aiming for a grand slam result when his Mt Waverley family home goes under the hammer later this month.
Tyzzer and wife Sue are selling their four-bedroom house at 16 Bizley St with a $2.3m-$2.5m price guide.
The 2019 Women’s Tennis Association’s Coach of the Year, Tyzzer coached former world no. 1 Barty from 2016 until her 2022 retirement.

Barty won titles at the 2019 French Open, 2021 Wimbledon Championships and 2022 Australian Open while working with Tyzzer. She also took out the 2018 US Open women’s doubles alongside American player CoCo Vandeweghe.
A Tiffany trophy, one of two presented to both Tyzzer and Vandeweghe’s coach Pat Cash after the doubles victory, has since served as the Mt Waverley family home’s lolly bowl.
Tyzzer also coached ex-world no. 38 Andrew IIie and has received other honours including the 2017 Australian Tennis Award coaching excellence – high performance gong.
He now oversees Tennis Australia’s junior girls’ player support program.
Along with his wife and four children, Tyzzer has lived at the Mt Waverley residence for more than 20 years.
But they’re selling with plans to downsize.
Tyzzer said he had always enjoyed returning to the house after travelling to international sports events.
“Both Ash and I weren’t fantastic travellers, we were both homebodies and wanted to be with our family and friends,” he said.
His favourite room is a living area featuring an open fireplace, vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and brickwork and a built-in bar.
Displayed in the room is Tyzzer’s helmet collection, a notable inclusion being a costume piece from the Gladiator film starring Russell Crowe.
“It’s a great place to entertain and I love spending time there,” Tyzzer said.
They have hosted several birthdays and other celebrations including 60-80 guests at his daughter’s 18th.
Set on 729sq m, the abode boasts two outdoor decks, a formal living area and kitchen fitted with stone surfaces and stainless-steel appliances.
“We had the kitchen, three bathrooms and powder room recently redone,” Tyzzer said.
They also added a kitchen portrait window looking out to the garden.
Further features include a main bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite containing a freestanding bathtub; an office or fifth bedroom; 23 solar panels; and a double garage.
Buxton Mt Waverley managing director Steve Hatzi said the property, zoned for Mt Waverley Secondary College, had been popular with family buyers.
“Being local to the Mt Waverley Secondary College zone has been a big part of the attraction,” Mr Hatzi said.
Having multiple living areas and two outdoor decks also gives parents and children plenty of room to spend time both together and apart, he added.
The property will be auctioned at 12.30pm on June 15.
