France go into tonight’s Euro 2025 qualifer at St James’ Park top of their group, with two wins from two, while England are second with four points so far.

But France coach Herve Renard said: “No, we are not favourites. When you are playing against the
vice champions of the world and the European champions, you cannot be the
favourites but this is not important.

“Just to be sure, we are not here just to
visit Newcastle. We are here to play a competitive game. It will be a fantastic
atmosphere and even when it’s against you it’s also pushing you. We know the
atmosphere in the English stadiums are amazing so we’re looking forward to this
very interesting game.”
