After his dramatic five-set, second round win over Flavio Cobolli it was far more straightforward for Holger Rune on Saturday night as he brushed aside Jozef Kovalik 7-5, 6-1, 7-6(2). The result sets him up with a fourth round meeting with Alexander Zverev.
And moments later on Chatrier, Grigor Dimitrov ended the run of Belgian qualifier Zizou Bergs in four sets 6-3, 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4 to confirm a meeting with Hubert Hurkacz on Sunday.
Thanasi Kokkinakis won a third set breaker against Taylor Fritz to take their meeting into a fourth set – the American is up two sets to one.
Casper Ruud and Tomas Martin Etcheverry are in the early stages of their third round match, the last of the day on Lenglen.
