Richmond’s injury crisis continues as the club has confirmed breakout recruit Mykelti Lefau has ruptured his ACL.

Lefau jumped in a marking contest late in the Tigers’ battle with Geelong, coming down awkwardly on his right side before walking off the ground.

The injury was confirmed by Richmond’s General Manager Tim Livingstone today.

“Football can be a cruel game sometimes, and for Mykelti, who has been in terrific form, this is an unfortunate way for his debut season to finish,” he said via a statement.

“Mykelti has not put a foot wrong since he joined our AFL program in the pre-season, and we know he will attack his rehab with the same professionalism and energy that has held in such strong stead this season.

“We will give him our support every step of the way and help him to return to action and his promising career in 2025.”

The 25-year-old New Zealander has impressed in his debut season, with 14 goals from his 10 appearances in 2024.

The Tigers now have 16 active injuries ahead of their Thursday night clash with Adelaide.
