“Almost resolved”: Pies’ latest update allays fears on Elliott’s future as lengthy rehab looms

Must read

Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott’s vascular issue is “almost resolved”, according to the Magpies, although Elliott remains someway off an AFL return.

There had been fears around Elliott’s future in the game after a report from 9News’ Tom Morris, earlier this week. But Collingwood’s latest update suggests that’s no longer a concern.

“Jamie Elliott’s vascular issue is progressing well and is almost resolved. The forward is on a modified training program which includes indoor pool and treadmill work. Elliott is expected to complete outdoor running later this week,” a statement reads.

“The 31-year-old is expected to return in six to eight weeks.”

Collingwood has also put a three-week timeline on Jordan DeGoey’s return from an abdominal tear, while Mason Cox is 5-7 weeks away after a knee injury a fortnight ago against Fremantle.

Scott Pendlebury (bicep), Tom Mitchell (foot), Brody Mihocek (hamstring) and Joe Richards (foot) are all around three weeks away.

The Magpies could be in line to regain Will Hoskin-Elliott from a hamstring strain for the King’s Birthday clash against Melbourne, while former Bomber Josh Eyre will play his first game for the club in the VFL.
