“Reasonably keen at the each-way price”: Mitch Lewis’ Sandown best bets

Must read

Mitch Lewis has given his Wednesday best bets at Sandown.

Racing in Victoria heads to Sandown for a strong midweek card and the star tipster has two specials he wants to back.

With the rail out three metres for the entire circuit, Lewis says he’ll be honing in on horses that settle up on speed from good barriers.

Sandown: Race 7, No. 7 – Riproar

“It’s a pretty open and handy race this one with Calico Jack and Angry Skies running. I’m going to give old Riproar another chance here,” Lewis told SENTrack.

“He drops down in grade from his last few starts, he was a winner first-up at Geelong in the heavy, I don’t know what he did second-up at Mornington but ever since then he’s been quite good in some stronger races.

“He comes back to Benchmark grade and again from barrier five with Damian Lane finding a sit just off that speed I think he’ll be in a good spot.

“Given we’re dropping down sharply in grade and we’ve been going okay, I think we can back Riproar.

Sandown: Race 8, No. 1 – Epic Centre

“We don’t mind one at double figures and I’m keeping a close eye on Epic Centre in the last race.

“He drops down in grade, he ran sixth of ten last start but was only 2.5 lengths off the winner in a BM78.

“He’s dropping down in grade, he’s going to push forward and over the 1000m I think he’s going to give the race a pretty good shake particularly if I’m right and we’re going to be favouring the on-speed runners.

“Not worried with the big weight over 1000m, I think Epic Centre pushes forward and gives them something to chase.

“I’m reasonably keen at the each-way price there.”
