Volkswagen has introduced the new Golf GTI Clubsport at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, marking a significant moment in motorsport and the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Golf. This high-performance model boasts a 221 kW (300 hp) engine, reaching a top speed of 165 mph.

The car’s design enhancements include a completely redesigned front end, LED Plus headlights and an illuminated VW logo. A large roof spoiler and revamped LED tail light clusters also add to its aggressive aesthetic.

Additionally, the new Clubsport features 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels, with an option for 19-inch Warmenau forged wheels, reducing unsprung mass to enhance performance. Inside, a multifunction leather sports steering wheel and a new infotainment system, featuring the IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, allow for a more intuitive driving experience.

Under the hood, the GTI’s turbocharged EA888 LK3 evo4 engine delivers 295 lb ft of torque. An electronically controlled front differential lock and optional DCC adaptive chassis control ensure optimal performance. The Clubsport’s Special driving profile adjusts the DCC for the Nürburgring’s unique characteristics, allowing the car to hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.

The 24-hour race weekend also featured the Max Kruse Racing team competing with a 348 hp Golf GTI Clubsport 24h, alongside three classic first-generation Golf GTIs in the 24h Classic event, celebrating the enduring legacy of the Golf.
