Queen Mary of Denmark turned heads after debuting a brand new ‘Gen Z’ hairstyle – and it’s beloved by celebrities including Beyoncé, Jennifer Aniston, Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid.

The Danish royal recently stepped out onto the balcony of Frederik VIII’s Palace for husband King Frederik’s 56th birthday.

Eagle-eyed fans immediately spotted the queen’s new look: money pieces.

Made famous by Beyoncé in 2020, the trend involves dyeing face-framing locks a lighter colour to make features pop.

Queen Mary‘s new hairstyle saw her sport light caramel money pieces which expertly contrast with her deep auburn hair.

The hair transformation highlighted the queen’s subtle makeup and accentuated her features.

Some, like Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner, choose to bleach or dye their money pieces vibrant colours.

Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green in Friends (1994-2004) also frequently dyed her hair with money pieces framing her face.

The actor’s haircut during the television show, nicknamed ‘The Rachel‘, is one of the top most-requested haircuts in recent years.

As trends revert back to the 1990s and mix in a modern twist, it’s no surprise the Queen of Denmark decided to show the world her take on the popular style.

Queen Mary is a fashion icon in her own right and well-known for setting off trends.

The Australian-born European royal recently styled her hair with accessories from a designer beloved by Taylor Swift.

New York designer Ellen Hunter’s ornate handcrafted jewellery and hair accessories have become a celebrity favourite over the years.

The Jane comb uses filigree – a method where the maker twists gold wire together and solders it – which makes its design more intricate.

It has three vintage-inspired designs twirled together atop a 24 karat gold-plated comb – and only three units are in stock at the time of writing.

During the same visit in Norway, Queen Mary also dazzled in the Amanda comb ($338) as she posed next to her husband King Frederik X of Denmark and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr.

Thousands of royal fans revealed they were ‘obsessed’ with Queen Mary’s hair accessories – so it’s only a matter of time before the money pieces come back in full-swing.
