Kyrie Irving, the Dallas Mavericks star associated with both praise and scandal, has once again reached the NBA Finals.

The Australian-born athlete has taken a twisting path back to the championship series. The last time he played for a title came in 2017. Irving helped deliver the Cavs’ only NBA title in 2016 and the city’s first championship in 60 years alongside LeBron James.

After the 2017 championship series, Irving wanted a trade, and ended up with the Brooklyn Nets as well as the Boston Celtics — the team he’ll now face with the Mavericks in this year’s finals.

He’s played in multiple cities since leaving Cleveland, but where does Kyrie Irving live? Let’s find out as we learn more about the NBA star.

Where does Kyrie Irving live?

Amid his 2023 trade from the Nets to the Dallas Mavericks, Irving parted ways with his New Jersey properties to move to Texas.

Among the homes Irving left in the Garden State were a $925,000 three-bedroom penthouse loft in Union City and a nine-bedroom $1.17 million estate in West Orange outside of Newark, the New York Post reported.

Frisco, Texas, mayor and real estate agent Jeff Cheney attempted to woo Irving to Texas with a social media post about a modern mansion there, according to a Dallas real estate website. Some TikTok videos claim Irving indeed purchased the house.

The property sold on Feb. 16, 2024, according to Zillow, a little more than a year after the Nets traded Irving to the Mavericks.

Kyrie Irving’s Mavericks contract

In February 2023, Irving signed with the Mavericks on a three-year, $120 million deal. He’ll be under contract in Dallas through at least the 2024-25 season, with a player option for the 2025-26 season.

Irving earned $38 million this season and will earn $41 next year, per Spotrac.

How many times has Kyrie been to the finals?

This year will be Irving’s fourth NBA Finals appearance and first time reaching the championship with the Mavericks.

He played in his first three championship series with the Cavaliers (2015, 2016 and 2017).

His game-winning 3-pointer against Golden State with less than a minute left in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals gave the Cavs the lead for good and is one of the biggest made shots in Finals history.

Where did Kyrie Irving play before coming to Dallas?

After a run to the finals with the Cavaliers in 2017, Cleveland traded Irving to Boston. He spent two seasons there (including one playoff berth in 2019) before signing with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency in 2019.

Irving played a three-and-a-half turbulent seasons with the Nets. His refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine sidelined him for multiple games, and his dissemination of anti-Semitic media earned him an eight-game suspension.
