A new-look Bryson DeChambeau couldn’t resist a flirtatious bit of banter with a lady reporter ahead of LIV Golf Houston.
DeChambeau, 30, has rocked up to the Golf Club of Houston for this week’s latest LIV Golf League event with a new moustache.
It came about after someone mentioned ‘he might look good in a ‘stache’.
He also recently filmed an ‘old school style’ YouTube video, and so he stuck with it for this week’s tournament.
As for whether the ‘stache remains for next week’s US Open at Pinehurst No.2 will likely rest on well he plays in Houston.
There is certainly chance of a solid showing from DeChambeau this week as the big-hitting American arrives in Houston off the back an impressive solo second behind Xander Schauffele at the US PGA at Valhalla.
It marked the second straight top-10 finish in the 2024 majors for DeChambeau, who also has four top-10 finishes from the first seven LIV Golf League events of 2024.

As a result of his latest performances, DeChambeau starts a joint-tournament favourite (8/1) for LIV Golf Houston this week alongside the circuit’s star signing Jon Rahm.
Although the Crushers GC captain has yet to register an individual victory since September 2023, one lady reporter went as far to say he was ‘arguably the hottest golfer on the planet right now…’
DeChambeau went along with it and replied: ‘Is it the ‘stache?’ before muttering under his breath ‘I’m joking’.
The reporter laughed while saying ‘it’s the ‘stache for sure’ before giggling some more.

Things calmed down and the reporter eventually straightened out the question to get DeChambeau’s thoughts ahead of his quest to land a second career US Open title next week.
He landed his maiden major title with an emphatic six-stroke romp at the 2020 US Open, which took place at Winged Foot and without golf fans as a result of the covid lockdown.
The reporter wanted to know whether Pinehurst No.2 was a good fit for his game, and what his expectations were for the week.
DeChambeau explained he loves the test the North Carolina course poses, and that he considers it very much a ball striker’s course.
DeChambeau thinks Pinehurst is an iron play course
DeChambeau said of 2024 US Open venue:
“I actually played Pinehurst in 2013 actually right before the U.S. Open with the SMU golf team — might have been 2012. Anyway, it was with the college team. We had a great time out there. I know Bob Dedman that owns the golf course pretty well, and he’s a big supporter of SMU, so we got to go out there and play. I loved the test of golf that it presented. It was a lot of fun playing there.
“I played well that week that we were out there, the college team was out there, and I’ve always had fond memories of Pinehurst and what Payne Stewart has done. It’s a special golf course and a golf course that I went out and actually played it, played like three or four holes, maybe a little bit more than that, I think like four or five months ago in early January. I went to see the USGA and talk to them for a little bit and had a great time out there. It was an awesome test of golf. I know it’s not the conditions that we’ll be presented next week, but certainly got to see the golf course, the way it looks, the way it feels, the way the greens kind of roll, the slopes that are there.
“It was fun, and I like that style of golf. It’s an iron play golf course for sure.”
Another reporter than asked DeChambeau about his new-look ‘stache and how it came about in more detail.
DeChambeau said:
“I did start it. That was my fault. I for sure messed that one up.
“I don’t know, I had someone say you might look good in a ‘stache, and I was like, all right, I’ll try it. I had a big scruff, and I shaved it all down. There’s a video that’s coming out on YouTube that is old school style. I think I posted about it almost a week ago now, and it looked good, I thought, with the outfit. I don’t know if you guys saw it, but it’s the old school with the hickory clubs and got the beret on and the whole getup, the long socks and shoes, all that.
“It definitely fit the outfit. We’ll see how long this lasts though. If I play bad the first day, I’m probably just going to shave it.”
DeChambeau was forced to ring a change to his Crushers GC lineup this week as Charles Howell III got injured on the eve of LIV Golf Houston.
He has replaced Howell III with three-time DP World Tour winner and the Asian Tour’s current Order of Merit leader, John Catlin.
