Ruakaka racing tips
—
Race 1. (9:25) Shane Batten Electrical BM75 (1100m)
#1 – Master Brutus @ $2.00
Master Brutus looks to have more ability than most at this level having won once and placed five times last preparation.
The four-year-old gelding has attracted the services of Opie Bosson, and we’re not surprised by the shortening odds.
He should get punters off to a winning morning.
Race 2. (10:00) Trigg Construction Maiden (1600m)
#1 – Flamboyance @ $3.60
Money is with Flamboyance, who looks to cap off three consecutive placings.
The three-year-old son of Wrote ran second at Ruakaka two back before placing behind Te Atau Dream at Te Rapa.
It’s form that should hold up nicely on Saturday in the north.
Race 4. (11:15) Porthouse Bar & Eatery Sprint (1400m)
#4 – Urban Myth @ $3.50
Urban Myth has been in good form this season, including a win four back at Hastings.
The five-year-old son of Vadamos owns four win and five placings from 18 starts, including a win and placing at Ruakaka.
He doesn’t need to improve to beat this field, so take the odds before punters climb in.
Race 6. (12:32) Marsden Metal Group (1400m)
#1 – Full Noise @ $4.20
Full Noise did enough when running fourth on debut at Te Rapa, so we’re happy to stick with him.
The three-year-old has been rock-solid in betting markets since they opened, which is a good sign for Saturday’s race.
Take the each-way odds before more support comes for him.
Otaki racing tips
—
Race 1. (9:45) Odds Surge Otaki Maiden (1600m)
#1 – Coney Island @ $2.30
Coney Island has been desperately close to winning this preparation after posting three second placings.
The four-year-old doesn’t need to improve too much to beat this field, and he comes off a second placing at Trentham.
Something close to that is good enough to win as the favourite.
Race 2. (10:20) Vets on Riverbank Maiden (1600m)
#6 – Radiant Lass @ $4.40
Radiant Lass has been disappointing at times, but her best form has come this season.
She ran second at Woodville fresh up before adding fourths at Wanganui and Woodville, so the form is improving.
Getting weight off her back helps, so the odds are worth taking.
Race 4. (11:28) Harcourts Otaki BM65 (1200m)
#2 – Strides @ $3.90
Strides didn’t fire fresh up at Trentham, but this race is more to his liking.
The son of Spieth owns two wins and two placings at Otaki, so it’s a track where he’s had the most success.
There is depth to this field, but his odds should firm considerably on race day.
Race 5. (12:05) The Tele Otaki BM75 (1200m)
#3 – Spencer @ $4.40
Spencer got back to winning form at Trentham in heavy conditions last start and he’s good enough to win again.
The four-year-old has yet to race at Otaki, but the conditions should be similar to what he faced at Trentham.
Getting the inside draw gives him every chance to impress.
