Fogarty to remain in the Navy Blue

Must read

Lachie Fogarty has re-signed at Carlton for a further two seasons.

THE CARLTON Football Club is pleased to announce that small forward Lachie Fogarty has re-signed on a new two-year deal, keeping him at the Club until at least 2026.

Fogarty has earned his way to being an integral member of the Blues’ forward setup, playing a pivotal role in the side’s commitment to contest and pressure.

Tough and reliable, Fogarty is known for being the ultimate team player, with a drive to make his fellow teammates better with his selfless nature.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a strong start to the 2024 season, ranking No.1 in the AFL for tackles inside 50 in the first four games, before succumbing to a wrist injury.

Despite missing six games, Fogarty is currently ranked equal fourth in the entire competition for tackles inside 50 (averaging 2.3 per game) and is ranked elite for overall tackles, with four per game.

The consistent performer only missed one game between Round 14 and the preliminary final last year, having a minimum of three tackles in all but one of those appearances.

Fogarty has become symbolic of the Blues’ buy-in to the high-pressure game they have looked to build.

He has tremendous resilience and determination in the face of adversity during his seven years at the elite level.

Fogarty began his AFL career at Geelong, where he was selected at pick No.22 in the 2017 draft, before joining the Blues at the end of 2020.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said the Club was pleased to secure not just a quality player but a quality person for a further two seasons.

“Lachie plays a key role in our forward structure, he adds so much to our brand of contest and pressure,” Austin said.

“Internally he is often praised for his selfless approach to the game, always striving to enhance his fellow teammates and it is pleasing to see Lachie start to get the recognition externally that he gets from everyone at the football club.

“We can’t wait to see what he can produce in the Navy Blue over the next two years and still believe his best football is well and truly ahead of him.”
