KEMBLA INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1: Midway Class 1 Handicap (1500m)

AIX EN PROVENCE (1) is, in human terms, the nephew of Dundeel or It’s a A Dundeel as he was when he won the Triple Crown. This Sara Ryan-trained three-year-old has a CV of five starts for a win, two seconds and two thirds, one of which was at Canterbury. Got a great ride to win here last start but he was dominant. Pogacar the cyclist is $1.35 to win the Tour de France. POGACAR (2) the horse was $7.50 to win last time we looked and that’s not a bad price given he is third-up off a ‘better than it looked’ 13th of 15 at Newcastle. STEELY GIRL (4) is in the mix.

BET: Aix En Provence to win, exacta 1 to beat 2.

RACE 2: 4Y0+ Maiden Plate (1000m)

ROYAL EMPRESS (6) is a Gerry Harvey bred/owned mare by Exosphere trained by Hall Of Famer Clarry Conners. The Lady Nickelii descendant was tipped out after her consecutive seconds at Wyong (beating Tanglewood) and Gosford in good looking maidens. Trialled well. Drawn 2/Schiller. TULLE (7) is a half sister to Astern, Alizee and Tassort. She was costly but entirely creditable when third at Scone on Cup day. HOW GOOD (1) looks like your typical, proverbial, ‘ready made racehorse.’

BET: Royal Empress to win, quinella 6,7.

RACE 3: 3YO Maiden Plate (1000m)

MIDNIGHT HARRY (2) is a David Payne-trained gelding who has lodged four placings from his nine starts, with a couple of fifths thrown in. The son of Harry Angel resumes here in a race that got a lot easier for him when the toppie came out. Ran well in the Art Volant (subsequent winner) trial at Rosehill. OUR LITTLE STAR (7) hasn’t been seen since making an unsuccessful debut in the 2023 Inglis Challenge on may 12 last year. Everything she does in her trials indicates talent. Drawn well in the right race here. PERSISTER (8) is at home and trialled well herself.

BET: Midnight Harry to win, quinella 2,7.

RACE 4: Benchmark 68 (1000m)

RUMOURS ABOUND (7) might be the flat-out fastest horse racing at Kembla on Tuesday. She drew 12 of 12 at Albury last start but was miles in front after they went 200m and ended-up winning by four-and-a-half in 51.78s for the 900m. Granted this is a lot harder assignment but there’s no accounting for speed in this sport. So You Think mare DIVINE VICKY (4) is unbeaten in her two Kembla runs. She showed her now trademark ‘ticker’ to win here first-up. never runs poorly, hence has to go in. The ‘best’ OCEANS ONE (2) would just about beat them all here. Worth noting that his second-up form is almost his form!

BET: Rumours Abound to win.

RACE 5: Maiden Handicap (1600m)

LENAPE VIBE (1) is a Waller/Hermitage three-year-old who will probably end up going 2400m one day; bearing in mind that he is in-bred to Sadler’s Wells. The grey was very, very safe in the market on debut on the Kensington track and while he clocked in 6th of 9, you would walk away happy unless you backed him. Mile at Kembla – tick, tick. FIFTH FORCE (2) is already, somewhat, proven at 1600m given that half-length second in a Mile Maiden at Hawkesbury on May 23. Fit and in form. GWENDIE (4), the filly named after the Queen of Kembla, Gwenda Markwell, has been the eye-catcher in both career starts. Will again be strong late.

BET: Lenape Vibe to win, Daily Double 1st Leg (1), 2nd Leg (6).

RACE 6: Maiden Handicap (1300m)

RUBILACE (1) has a ticket to ride at Warwick Farm on Wednesday; the same venue where she almost won last start so she could easily try her hand there again. GOODNIGHT BARLOW (2) trialled exceedingly well prior to his debut fourth at Moruya on April 26. Long and the short of the run was he got a little further back than maybe most of us expected but he was super strong late. This is a lovely set up for him at home over 1300m. Ditto that last bit for ON THE DECS (10). She’s a Kermadec out of a Savabeel close relation to Headturner and Anacheeva so she is only going to get better with each passing day.

BET: Rubilace to win or if scratched, Goodbye Barlow to win and On The Decs each-way.

RACE 7: Benchmark 64 (1300m)

GLENBOWER (6) is a fascinating – and hugely promising – horse. The Anthony Cummings trained colt’s fifth dam is the mother of Century and it never hurts to have a champion in the family! As for Glenbower, he was off the map ($4.40 into $2.15) when he resumed at Newcastle on May 9 and won like a 2s on shot. BROHM LAKE (15) will need some luck to gain a start but she is a Kembla winner and her two first-up runs are a whole lot better than they read on paper. Creates each-way interest at the giant odds. CODE IN TIME (1) is creeping up in the weights but is in form and has a great alley.

BET: Glenbower to win, Brohm Lake each-way.
