Saturday Horse Racing Tips & Best Bets [June 8, 2024]

Must read

Check out our tips and best bets for Saturday’s racing around Australia, including the G1 meeting at Eagle Farm, Flemington, Randwick, Belmont and Morphettville Parks.

BEST BETS

Flemington R8 No.10 Talbragar

Talbragar (10) was slow out and wide without cover for most of the race over this trip at Sandown last start but stuck on really gamely to finish right alongside Rheinberg. He’s drawn much better in this and gets Jamie Mott fifth-up. All things considered, he should be able to turn the tables on the two horses that beat him home last start – Rheinberg and Le Ferrari. He just needs to step better.

Jamie Mott (59kg)
Julius Sandhu
6yoG (b) Snitzel x Overreach

Randwick R9 No.16 Iowna Merc

If Iowna Merc (16) improves off what he did first-up behind Opal Ridge, he’ll be the one to hold out late here. Back to Randwick is a big positive for this horse. He’s won three of eight at the track and doesn’t mind if it’s wet. With only 53kg on his back and a cold ride behind a quick tempo, he looks the one.

Rachel King (53kg)
Bjorn Baker
4yoG (bay/brown) Winning Rupert x Mercedes

Eagle Farm R8 No.11 Mare Of Mt Buller

I made Mare Of Mt Buller (11) a blackbooker after finishing third to AMAZONIAN LASS (3) and MOLLY BLOOM (1) in the Bracelet and she didn’t disappoint when narrowly beaten in The Roses. On both occasions she ran a strong final 600m and wasn’t letting up on the line. By Dundeel out a Redoute’s Choice mare that won up to 1800m and her great-grand-dam being the dual Oaks winner Savana City she has the pedigree and recent form to get it done.

Tommy Berry (56.5kg)
Chris Waller
3yoF (b) Dundeel x Aliberani

BEST VALUE

Flemington R6 No.7 Beltoro

I feel like Beltoro (7) has been building towards something this prep despite his form looking a little iffy on paper – 4 starts for 4 unplaced efforts. He had no hope the way the race was run last start over 1800m but found the line strongly and there appears to be a bit more tempo in this. His most recent run over this trip saw him win last year’s Albury Cup by over 4L and his Flemington record is solid.

Jaylah Kennedy (56kg)
Robert Hickmott
6yoG (b) Toronado x Believabeel

Randwick R8 No.4 Hosier

I thought Hosier (4) was suited last week on a track with the sting out and it won’t be dry here. In total, he’s won eight of 11 when racing on rain-affected tracks. Covered ground first-up and lacked the zip at a mile, but will find this race much easier and he’s also drawn better.

Blake Spriggs (56.5kg)
Mark Minervini
7yoG (b) Camelot x Time Ahead

Eagle Farm R7 No.5 Zoe’s Promise

The second-up syndrome struck Zoe’s Promise (5) last start where she raced too keenly and was beaten shortly after straightening. She has a much better third-up record and bolted in at her last Eagle Farm start when resuming over 1400m. This trip is her optimum and with a more controlled ride from Andrew Mallyon can get the job done.

Andrew Mallyon (57kg)
Kris Lees
4yoM (b) Swear x Kinz Funky Monkey
