Australian travellers can now fly direct to Vietnam’s capital city Hanoi with airfares costing $199 for a limited time.
VietJet’s inaugural flight to Melbourne Airport touched down on Tuesday and a flight between Sydney and Hanoi will launch on June 8.
The airline offers two round trips to the Southeast Asia destination every Tuesday and Saturday.
Until June 10 travellers can get their hands on affordable economy tickets starting from $199, including 20kg of checked-in luggage and an in-flight meal.
Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh said: ‘Since Vietjet’s first flight to Australia in April 2023, we have continuously expanded our network connecting the five largest cities in Australia including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide with Ho Chi Minh City.
‘The launching of Melbourne to Hanoi route… further proves our commitment to development by continuing to expand our network and providing quality services between Australia and Vietnam, meeting the demand of locals and tourists.’
The news comes at the perfect time as Australians are looking for budget holiday options.

Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos said the Vietnamese market growth had been one of the silver linings coming out of the pandemic.
‘The increased capacity in the market delivers benefits to passengers in the form of cheaper fares, but also provides exporters with access to high value markets,’ he said.
‘VietJet’s Hanoi service will complement its current five times a week service to Ho Chi Minh City and will give Victorians new connections into other Asian destinations with the airline’s flight network. Vietnam is in our top ten outbound destinations.’
