INWIT Builds DAS Infrastructure to Enable Tim, Vodafone & Iliad 5G at G7 Summit

Must read

INWIT, the leading Italian tower operator, has created infrastructure to enable an improvement in current telecommunications technology up to 5G in light of the upcoming summit of G7 Heads of State and Government, which will be hosted at Borgo Egnazia from 13 to 15 June.

INWIT has equipped the facility with DAS (Distributed Antenna System) coverage. Thanks to this investment, INWIT obtained recognition as technical partner of the G7 in Savelletri di Fasano (Brindisi). The infrastructure supports the 5G connectivity of TIM, Vodafone and iliad.

An area of 45,000 square metres inside the facility will benefit from INWIT’s multi-operator mobile network DAS, for a total of 57 microantennas and 6 km of fibre-optic cable. The infrastructure covers most of the common indoor and outdoor spaces, such as the large swimming pools, the arena, the events centre, the main square of the Borgo, the reception, meeting rooms, portico area, restaurants, and offices.

The areas where the summit will take place will therefore have dedicated 5G coverage with a stable, fast and efficient signal available to all mobile operators. The network will be accessible on all devices, including smartphones, tablets and PCs with wireless connection, enabling internet browsing on all devices, with a significant improvement in signal reception and customer experience.

The small size and low power of the microantennas make the DAS visually imperceptible, meaning it can be adapted to any facility, including those of particular artistic value, with zero impact on the beauty of the location.

INWIT General Manager, Diego Galli

INWIT works constantly to provide digital, shared infrastructure to all operators, fast and efficient, as in the case of the G7 which will be held in Borgo Egnazia. Putting our innovative technology also at the service of important events that see Italy as a main player confirms INWIT’s role as an enabler of the digitisation of the country
