Doomben racing tips

Race 1. (11:58) Racecourse Village Maiden (1100m)

#2 – Glowlight

Glowlight has been right around the mark throughout her career, including five placings from 10 starts.

The four-year-old mare by Nicconi gets weight off her back, and she wasn’t far away when fourth fresh up at Ipswich.

Look for a betting push on race day.

Race 2. (12:33) Cascade Maiden (1110m)

#7 – Perigean

Perigean has turned his form around this preparation with three consecutive second placings.

The three-year-old son of Extreme Choice ran all three placings at Ipswich, and he won’t be worried by running at Doomben.

Getting 1.5kg off his back adds to his appeal.

Race 3. (13:08) XXXX Maiden (1200m)

#8 – Liparota

Liparota ran second on debut at Ipswich as a $13.00 chance, and she’ll be much shorter in betting markets this time around.

The two-year-old daughter of More than Ready gets 1.5kg off her back, and her natural barrier speed is another positive.

We expect her to be fighting out the finish.

Race 4. (13:43) Ladbroke It BM65 (2060m)

#2 – Torovista

Torovista owns two wins from six starts, and his last start placing at Scone is a good form guide.

The four-year-old son of Toronado finished 1.5 lengths behind the winner last time out, and this race isn’t any harder.

Punters could get each-way odds on race day.

Race 5. (14:18) The Gibson BM65 (1200m)

#4 – Taltarni Fields

Taltarni Fields has yet to finish worse than third from five starts, and the natural ability is there.

The three-year-old son of Deep Field won well at Ipswich two back before finishing a nose behind the winner last start.

Getting weight off his back adds to his appeal.

Race 6. (14:53) Mullins Lawyers C1 (1650m)

#8 – Around the Buoy

Around the Buoy has been threatening to win a race this preparation, and we’re happy to stick with him.

The four-year-old owns two placings from two starts at Doomben, so getting back to this race helps his cause.

His odds should be around $8.00 with bookmakers.

Race 7. (15:28) World Pool C6 (1650m)

#11 – Sebring Girl

Sebring Girl isn’t always the most consistent type going around, but that makes her a dangerous type.

The four-year-old daughter of Sebring won at Sunshine Coast in heavy conditions three back before placing at Doomben last start.

Getting in with 54kg makes her tough to beat.

Race 8. (16:03) Sky Racing Handicap (1350m)

#3 – Stuttering

Stuttering is better than his recent form suggests, and we’re happy to stick with the experienced type.

He owns seven wins and 17 placings from 44 starts, and although he finished seventh at Doomben fresh up, his form improves second-up.

Getting weight off his back should take him close.

Race 9. (16:34) Become a BRC Member BM70 (1200m)

#9 – Expectant

Expectant showed a good turn-of-foot to finish third at Toowoomba last time out, which is a solid form guide.

The six-year-old gelding is a six-time winner overall, and most of his best racing has come over this distance.

We expect him to be right in the thick of it.
