Southampton Hospitals Charity announce Hampshire Cricket Foundation as the Learning Partner for Light the South art trail

Southampton Hospitals Charity have announced that Hampshire Cricket Foundation will be the Learning Partner for Light the South, an extraordinary free family art trail taking place throughout the summer. Light the South will feature 40 8ft Lighthouses, with stunning designs created by national and local artists, and 40 Little Lights created by local schools, youth, and community groups.

The trail goes live in July 2024 with a downloadable app available to assist with tracking down the Lighthouses across Southampton and Cowes. All the uniquely designed Lighthouses on the trail will then be auctioned to raise vital funds to support Southampton Children’s Hospital.

Ellis Banfield, Southampton Hospitals Charity CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have Hampshire Cricket Foundation involved in the trail as our Learning Partner, particularly as they already support thousands of young people through their work and community projects. The art trail is the perfect opportunity to get our young people working as a team to create incredible designs and promoting physical activity by exploring our city.”

To celebrate the partnership, Light the South will be exhibiting a number of little lighthouses at Utilita Bowl on Friday 14th June at Hampshire Hawks and Southern Vipers’ all action T20 Double Header. Supporters will be able to take a sneak peek at two trail lighthouses and a further six little lights throughout the afternoon and evening as Hampshire Hawks take on Middlesex and Southern Vipers face up against Northern Diamonds. Tickets for the event are still available and can be purchased by clicking here.

David Mann, Hampshire Cricket Foundation Trustee & Utilita Bowl Chief Executive, commented: “We are proud to be supporting Southampton Children’s Hospital, helping them to provide life-saving care for some of the region’s most critically ill young people. Our involvement with Light the South, as Learning Partner, resonates with our commitment to support young people to achieve their potential and we are looking forward to joining families from across the local area to explore the trail this summer.”
