Sandown racing tips

Race 1. (11:50) Set a Deposit Limit Handicap (1000m)

#4 – Husk @ $4.20

Husk comes off an impressive win at Sandown, and that’s ideal form for this level of racing.

The two-year-old filly by Calyx won by 1.3 lengths over a good field, and she doesn’t need to improve to beat this field.

Look for her to push forward and be tough to run down in the straight.

Race 2. (12:25) Ive Handicap (1400m)

#10 – Ten Deep @ $5.50

Each-way odds are with Ten Deep, who comes off an impressive win at Seymour.

The three-year-old filly by Ten Sovereigns won by six lengths as a $1.90 favourite, and that’s a great form guide.

The former Irish runner is good enough to win again with 54.5kg on her back.

Race 3. (13:00) Vale Fr Brendan Dillion BM70 (1400m)

#16 – Name Dropper @ $4.80

Name Dropper won at Eagle Farm on debut by 1.3 lengths, and the money coming for him is a good sign.

We didn’t expect him to be favourite in this race, so the Kiwi-bred runner could be worth following at each-way odds.

It could pay to watch for any late betting moves.

Race 4. (13:35) Evergreen Turf BM70 (1300m)

#3 – Donegal @ $14.00

There is good value with Donegal, who won fresh up at Sandown, and having winning form on the track is ideal.

The three-year-old filly by American Pharoah is unbeaten in two runs on soft tracks, and she could get conditions to suit.

She also gets 1.5kg off her back, so take the value.

Race 5. (14:10) Fast Form BM74 (1600m)

#5 – Blue Moon @ $7.50

Blue Moon is only a three-time winner from 31 starts, but she also owns 10 placings.

The six-year-old mare by Shocking placed at her only run at Sandown, so there is encouraging signs with that effort.

We’re happy to include her in selections at the odds.

Race 6. (14:45) Quayclean BM78 (1600m)

#9 – Concorde @ $4.60

Concorde is a four-time winner from 10 starts in Europe, and he could make a winning debut in Australia.

The four-year-old son of Sixties Icon is unbeaten in three starts on rain-affected tracks, so there is plenty to like about that record.

Take the each-way odds before they shorten on race day.

Race 7. (15:25) Lockettled BM84 (1000m)

#12 – Etienne @ $6.50

Value is with Etienne, who kicked off his last preparation with three consecutive wins.

He could start this preparation in similar order, and there is enough value with the four-year-old to recommend.

Getting in with 55.5kg makes him tough to beat.

Race 8. (16:05) Tile Importer Handicap (1400m)

#4 – Nicolini Vito @ $3.90

Nicolini Vito comes off a win at Sandown in fine style, which came by a length over Windstorm.

The six-year-old son of Nicconi is good enough to repeat that effort, and getting the inside draw adds to his appeal on Saturday.

His odds have drifted, but we’re backing him to win again.

Race 9. (16:35) Race Replays Handicap (1800m)

#7 – Dashing @ $7.00

Dashing owns two wins from his last three starts, and some of his best racing comes at Sandown.

The four-year-old son of Magnus owns a win and two placings from four starts at Sandown, and his win at Caulfield bodes well.

Getting in with 55kg on his back makes him tough to hold out.
