HALLSTEAD, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— American Legion Post 357 in Hallstead welcomed the Vietnam Memorial traveling wall into their community for the next several days.
The legion did plenty of fundraising to bring in the wall that is an 80% replica of the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C. The replica lists thousands of names, many of which are from northeastern Pennsylvania.
Susquehanna County officials say they’re honored to have the wall in their backyard.
“The community here’s been great with everything, and we lost 6 soldiers from here years ago in 2005. For a little town to see this come to? It’s a great honor,” said Bill Evans of Hallstead.
“And what really, I really love, is what all was put into this. To bring it to people that can’t make it to Washington,” added Maria Tinklepaugh of Susquehanna.
There will be events tomorrow through Sunday to honor our veterans.
