Travel Entitlements – ABSTUDY

To be eligible for travel assistance, students are required to be enrolled in a course, be Indigenous and/or Torres Strait Islander, have applied to Centrelink and been approved for one or more of the ABSTUDY benefits payable by Centrelink(except for Away From Base assistance).

Students will need to obtain a copy of Centrelink Confirmation of Enrolment, issued by the Institute, and then submit this to the nearest Centrelink Office.

Institutions must ask for evidence of an approved for an ABSTUDY benefit.

Once enrolled as a student with Batchelor Institute, Batchelor will organise travel from place of residency to workshop delivery location (Batchelor Campus, Alice Springs – DPC Campus)

Cost of Travel, accommodation and meals are covered for the duration of the workshop. There may be a time where students will have to cover the cost of a meal, taxi etc during travels to or from campus however, reimbursements are possible where these out of pocket costs are experienced – please ensure to contact Travel Services for current entitlements.

When students bring children ( older than two years) to workshop, it is the Students responsibility to cover the childs costs travel, accommodation, meals and childcare fees .

Students attendance on campus is restricted to the duration of relevant workshop being delivered. Students cannot remain on campus outside of workshop delivery periods, costs are not covered outside of the approved workshop duration.
