“I am grateful and very excited to join the Blue Hose family” said Coach McLemore. “I am extremely thankful to Coach Sardin for giving me this opportunity to be a part of her staff. She has had a lot of success everywhere she has been, and I look forward to working with her and continuing to learn and grow as a coach.”

Under his leadership during the 2023-2024 season, Aryauna Brent was named the USA South Rookie of the Year, and Codie Heilig earned a spot on the league’s All-Sportsmanship team.

Prior to his time at Mary Baldwin, McLemore spent four seasons as the head coach for high school girls’ basketball at Riverside High School in Durham, N.C. and Cary High School in N.C. He also served as a coach for the CP3 Flames Nike Girls EYBL Team in Raleigh, N.C. from 2020-2024.

Before transitioning to women’s basketball, McLemore coached high school boys’ basketball from 2013-2019. He was an assistant coach at Charles E. Jordan High School from 2014-2019 and an assistant at Chapel Hill High School during the 2013-2014 season.

McLemore began his coaching career at Fayetteville (N.C.) State University in 2010, after he retired from his professional basketball career.

McLemore also had a successful playing career. After graduating from Wagner College, he played for the Triad ABA in Winston-Salem, N.C., and had overseas playing experience in Holland and on the USA Select Basketball Tour Team in England.

McLemore was named the 2005 Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year during his time at Wagner College, where he was also a part of the 2002-2003 team that won the Northeast Conference Championship and made it to the NCAA Tournament.

Coach McLemore is married to his wife Whitney and has two children, a daughter named Kaelyn and a son named Dallas.

“I am excited to give DeEarnest an opportunity to join our program.” Said coach Sardin. “I believe his knowledge of the game and development of players will be a great asset to our staff. I’ve known him for a long time, and to have observed his growth and work ethic in this business will translate well at this level”.
