COLLINGWOOD forward Josh Carmichael is the latest player facing an uncertain future due to concussion issues.
Carmichael, a 2022 mid-season recruit who has played eight AFL games, has suffered multiple concussions over the last 12 months.
The 24-year-old copped a high hit at training over pre-season and was placed back on the Pies’ injury list a month ago with “delayed concussion symptoms”.
Carmichael has not played at VFL level since May 4. It’s understood his symptoms have lingered.
Carmichael’s teammate Nathan Murphy called time on his career earlier this year after repeated concussions and consultation with the league’s medical concussion panel.
Angus Brayshaw was medically retired before the season started and Western Bulldogs teenager Aiden O’Driscoll was forced to retire after failing to recover from a “significant head injury” in January.
