The two-mile Brisbane Cup will be a spectacle as we don’t see many races run over the long trip in Australia these days. This southern states visitor really caught the eye zooming home late in the 2800m Andrew Ramsden at Flemington last start. He’s a winner up to 3318m overseas, looks very well weighted & gets Blake Shinn to ride. Ticks plenty of boxes!
RACE 5 # 3 RAZORS
Beaten only by the winner here two starts back in the Queensland Guineas he then dropped back in distance & was badly held-up at Doomben unable to get a clear passage in the straight. Today he’s back up to the more suitable 1600m trip, draws a good alley an gets J. Mac to do the steering. That all adds up to a probable win.
RACE 6 # 1 BROADSIDING
Cannot find a negative for this one who yes will start well in the red however anything over $1.50 looks value to me. Dominant in the Sires he now gets back up to the mile which is what he’s chasing.
RACE 8 # 6 VILANA
So dominant winning the Moreton Cup here last Saturday he can become the first horse to win that race & the Stradbroke. Gelded prior to this prep he’s been nothing but consistent running well fresh, looking unlucky second-up before the demolition job last week. With cover in the run he can explode wide out once they hit the straight & give James Cummings his second win in the big race.

Consistent mare who has had a recent change of stables. We’re used to seeing her go forward however her last couple of outings have seen her settle back, the first of those she ran on hard, the second she was held-up & looked to have gas in the tank. Don’t mind her drawn out as she can get to the outside & get an unimpeded run at the leaders.
