Parnham Rates Winning Pair Highly – Racing & Wagering WA

Jockey Brad Parnham, who continued his good form in the saddle with a Belmont double on Saturday, predicts bright futures for his two winners.

Parnham took his season tally to 53 city winners and sits fourth in the Perth jockey premiership after booting home Elite Missile and Objectify.

Elite Missile, resuming since the Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (1200m) in February, notched his first win at his fourth start with a strong finish over 1400m.

The Stephen Miller-trained two-year-old was sixth at the turn and drew clear inside the final 50m to score by 2 ¼ lengths over his next rival, Exceed The Planet.

Elite Missile, a Smart Missile gelding, left it to race day to perform after Parnham admitted his two lead in trials were disappointing.

Parnham credited both horse and trainer for the turnaround.

“I was a little flat on his trial,” Parnham said on Tabradio.

“But, to SJ’s (Miller) credit he sort of said to me not to worry about it.

“He gave me a call the day before and said he’s got this horse right.

“Full credit to him, he did his job and the horse did as well.

“It’s not easy for a two-year-old first up over 1400m.

“It was a very nice win and hopefully the first of many for him.

“It was an impressive win and I’d expect him to carry that form next run and potentially as a three-year-old for better races.”

Parnham’s high opinion of Objectify increased further after she charged home to record a convincing  1 ½ length win.

The Dan Morton-trained filly is two from two this preparation and three wins overall with one third from her four career starts.

Parnham has been with Objectify from the get-go and says she’s displaying all the right signs of being a promising horse on the up.

“I’ve been keen on this filly since before her first start,” Parnham said.

“She’s progressed through nicely and I’m really happy with her.

“She won very nicely again and I think she’ll progress to better races as she goes on with her career.

“All round she’s a pretty nice race horse, does everything right and has a nice turn of foot.”
