The T20 World Cup Super Eights are finally locked in.
Bangladesh was the final nation to qualify for the second stage of the tournament after defeating Nepal by 21 runs in Kingstown on Monday morning AEST, ending the Netherlands’ dream of sneaking through.
After the Tigers were bowled out for 106, Bangladesh seamer Tanzim Hasan Sakib ripped through Nepal’s top order at Arnos Vale Ground in a career-best performance of 4-7.
Fellow quick Mustafizur Rahman was superb at death, taking 3-7 in four overs to help roll Nepal for 85 in 19.2 overs.
Bangladesh joins fellow underdogs United States of America and Afghanistan in the Super Eights, while powerhouse nations Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka have been eliminated.
There are two remaining group-stage matches on Tuesday before the Super Eights get underway on Thursday.
Bangladesh will face Australia at Antigua’s Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Friday with the first ball scheduled for 10.30am AEST.
