Southside football standout offensive lineman Jamin Brown committed to Duke on Sunday, via a social media post.

Brown, formerly a commit to Baylor, posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, needing only two words to describe his feelings — “I’m Home” along with a couple of hashtags.

Brown committed to the Bears back in January, but decommitted back in late April. Since then, he picked up a few more FBS offers, bringing his total to 13 — Duke and Vanderbilt were the headliners. Brown visited both in early June before making his commitment.

Brown is looking to build on a stellar junior year where he earned second team All-State honors from the Alabama Sports Writers Association and honorable mention honors from the Gadsden Times. He allowed just one sack on the year and had a 94 grade on the year. He is a 6-foot-5 offensive tackle.

When he committed to Baylor, now former Panthers coach Miles Holcomb told the Gadsden Times that Brown was the first player to commit to a Power 5 program since 2015. He will also help start a streak in Etowah County as in back-to-back years, a player from the county will sign to a power conference program.
