Big TV personality alarms with ‘psychopath’ flight routine

Must read

A major Australian TV personality has shocked half a million fans as he shared a bizarre in-flight habit making the well known 46-year-old look like a “psychopath”.

Almost 70 passengers are stranded in New Zealand after flames began spurting from the engine of their flight.

The Virgin Australia flight bound for Melbourne was forced to make an emergency landing at Invercargill.

Virgin Australia COO Stuart Aggs released a statement about the event, saying the fire was a ‘possible bird strike on take-off’.

The fan frenzy erupted on Wednesday when the former Sunrise star, 46, took to Instagram to upload a single photo of himself on an interstate flight from Brisbane to Sydney.

Denyer accompanied the selfie with a caption admitting he sat on the 90-minute flight without a single electronic device or even a book, to the astonishment of his followers.

“Look at this unit,” the former Family Feud host said of himself.

“No ear pods. No Netflix. No book. No screen.

“No podcasts. No Music. Just sitting there, with his thoughts. Like a MF psychopath.”

Shocked viewers of the photo were quick to express their judgement about the Gold Logie Award winner’s candid admission.

“I’ll be on a plane to Perth later today. This has reminded me to pack headphones,” one person said.

“Did anyone ask if you were ok?” said a second person.

A third person who described themselves an “ADHDer with a fear of my internal thoughts” said Denyer’s antic “sounds like my hell”.

“How many times can you read the inflight magazine and safety instructions?” another person asked.

One more questioned whether Denyer’s wife Cheryl was the culprit behind her husband’s electronic-free flight.

“It’s chez isn’t it, she’s banned electronics as a part of the health reset,” they said.

The truth surfaced it was in fact Cheryl behind the accidental on flight blunder, although she was shocked Denyer did not go to lengths to source himself some form of flight entertainment.

“Sorry I took everything home with me haha accidentally,” she commented on the photo.

“And I did wonder what on Earth you’d be doing on all the flights this week with no devices.

“Thought you might borrow a book.”

Denyer in his response to the wide ranging shocked and amused comments on his photo jokingly said he felt like a “monk” after the moment.

“I’m a monk now after this,” he said.

“Didn’t even get up straight away when the seatbelt sign turned off. Wild.”

It’s not the first time the race car driver, Guinness World record holder, and self-proclaimed “many of many talents” and “good bloke” sent his fans into a fluster with his flight humour.

He recently sparked their attention with a comical on-flight selfie which he seemed to edit to depict himself wearing a hat and smoking a cigarette in the cabin.

“I like to fly low-key. Incognito. Blend right in,” he captioned the photo.

“Love it,” one person said.

Another one of Denyer’s flight photos showed his outside view of the environment through the window marred with a rough drawing of a person fishing off the plane’s wing.

“Another phenomenal piece added to the ‘Grant Denyer plane window seat drawing’ art collection,” said one person.

“And a huge imagination!” said another.
