Bogle Joining Women’s Basketball Staff – Western Colorado University Athletics

Must read

GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado University head women’s basketball coach Adam Jacobson has announced the hiring of Lauren Bogle as the Mountaineer program’s assistant coach.

Bogle comes to the Western Slope following head coaching stops at John Wood (Ill.) Community College (2022-24) and at Lamar (Colo.) Community College (2021-2022). Her two-year stint leading John Wood was a return to the program after she had served as the Blazers’ assistant coach for two seasons (2019-21).

Her most recent campaign at John Wood was her most successful as the Blazers posted a 17-13 overall record and a 9-5 mark in Mid-West Athletic Conference action, competing with a roster of fewer than 10 players. Bogle coached Katey Flynn to first-team M-WAC and Freshman of the Year honors, with teammate Jada Dupree also earning a first-team honor.

“I am extremely grateful and excited to be able to help lead Western Colorado’s University women’s basketball,” said Bogle about joining the Mountaineers.

“I would like to thank Coach Jacobson for this opportunity and the vision he has for me and the team at Western. I am ready to bring the energy, and support needed to help the program be successful. I am already invested in this team and anxious to get with our women so we can, together, make the next steps to continued growth!”

Bogle was an NJCAA Women’s Basketball All-American while playing for Lake Land (Ill.) College, joining the Lakers’ 1,000-point club in two seasons. She would move on to play at the University of South Carolina Upstate where Bogle would earn the team’s Spartan Award and graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then played one season with Club Internacional in Peru.

“I am beyond excited to add a coach at the caliber of Lauren Bogle,” said Jacobson. “Lauren comes highly regarded and has had a ton of success as an assistant coach and head coach at the junior college levels. She will bring with her an energy, enthusiasm, and a love for the game, our players, and our program that this position hasn’t seen for quite a while. I can’t wait to get to work with her and can’t wait for the Western community to get to know her!”

Bogle’s official first day at Western will be July 1, 2024.
